Be Safe Solutions

In support of the “Be Safe at Work and Play” injury reduction initiative, PDRMA is proud to introduce our “Be Safe Solutions” concept to our members.

What is a Be Safe Solution?

A Be Safe Solution is a simple or innovative risk management product or other control that could include safety equipment, a procedure or anything else that helps prevent injuries or illness either on or off the job.

Be Safe Equipment Solutions

PDRMA staff is working to identify innovative and practical equipment that can be used by member agencies to prevent work-related and home injuries. Our goal is to have members use equipment samples purchased and distributed by PDRMA (when possible), and if a member finds the equipment effective, they will purchase similar equipment for their staff as necessary. Contact your Risk Management Consultant to find out more about these products and how they can help to prevent costly injuries to employees.

Do You Have a Be Safe Solution?

Contact Roy Jensen at 630 435 8938 to share your Be Safe Solution.

Knowing how to put out a grease fire could save your life.

This short video clip (33 seconds) teaches a simple, quick way of handling the situation of a pan on fire. This demonstration was shot at the Charleston Navy Base at the Fire Fighting Training school.

Never throw sugar or flour on a grease fire: one cup creates the explosive force of two sticks of dynamite!

eLegator Gate Lift System

The eLegator company boasts that its “patented spring action makes heavy gates feel like you’re lifting no weight at all.” This device can be added to trailer gates to prevent back injuries when lifting and lowering these gates. One member recently installed this equipment on a mowing trailer and was very impressed with the results.

Play the short video below to learn more about this product including a member testimonial.
