Overview/Philosophy
The PDRMA Health Program provides quality health benefits to over 1400 employees
and their dependents at 70 different locations. Our pooling program helps members
meet the difficult challenge of providing employee health benefits at an affordable
cost.
PDRMA has endeavored to keep its health plan attractive and competitive while
still affordable. In general terms the PDRMA Health Program's product is very
competitive and progressive. It includes a large national provider network,
90% in network coverage, an HMO option through Blue Cross Blue Shield, a prescription card managed by a nationally recognized
pharmacy benefit manager, an employee assistance program and optional dental
and vision coverage.
There is an additional component to PDRMA's product that distinguishes it
from the ordinary. The PDRMA Health Program provides services to its members
that include eligibility administration, orientation and training on at least
an annual basis, COBRA administration, administration of continuation of benefits
for retirees, HIPAA compliance training and other regulatory compliance management.
All members of the Property/Casualty Program have the additional benefit of
the ability to move funds between programs when necessary. With health and workers
compensation administered by the same organization there are other financial
efficiencies as well.
Our Health Risk Management program operates on the same principles and concepts
that have made PDRMA's traditional risk management program so successful, i.e.,
controlling losses by managing risks. This focus is, however, on health risks
and the goal is eliminating and/or mitigating these health risks. The health
program is focusing on a comprehensive health risk management approach that
includes prevention, disease management, and case management strategies as well
as training, education, and providing resources.
