10-Minute Trainings
PDRMA developed "10-Minute Trainings" because we know you don't always have time to do a half or full-day or even a 1-hour training session. The 10-Minute Trainings are quick, interactive exercises and activities that instructors can use to reinforce and refresh staff skills, knowledge and competencies without taking staff away from their daily duties for an extended period of time. Download the PDFs below.
Defensive Driving Training Programming
PDRMA has partnered with the National Safety Council to provide defensive driving instruction. To minimize the exposure and financial loss associated with transporting the
public and operating a fleet program, PDRMA recommends that all employees who
drive agency vehicles attend the core 4-hour Defensive Driving Course (DDC-4) within the first three months of their employment. Refresher training
on a variety of fleet safety topics should also be attended on an ongoing basis.
Agencies with 10 or more
full-time staff or whose staff frequently transport the public are encouraged to send a qualified instructor candidate to a
DDC-4 Instructor Development program. This program is designed to provide attendees with the knowledge and skills to be an
effective DDC-4 instructor. It covers the technical information presented in a DDC-4 course as well as effective methods and techniques for teaching adults basic defensive
driving skills. Agencies with certified DDC-4 staff instructors gain the
flexibility to conduct the course when it best suits staff schedules.
The Defensive Driving-4 Course is a two-day
instructor trainer course offered in January of each year. Once completed,
instructors can use PDRMA Defensive Driving resource materials -- including books and videos -- free of
charge.

CPR/First Aid Equipment
PDRMA CPR/First Aid programs are affiliated with Medic First Aid International,
which is a nationally recognized training program. However, members that
certify their staff in other CPR/First Aid programs may also check out
mannequins and related training support materials.
PDRMA has purchased all of the training materials necessary to train member
instructors in the Medic First Aid program so they can efficiently teach
CPR/First Aid programs at their agencies. PDRMA also has staff certified as
instructor trainers for Medic First Aid and holds instructor certification
classes for members in February of each year.
All trained instructors can check out CPR/First Aid resources to teach at their
agency. To check out materials, fax or mail the Equipment Request Form to the
PDRMA office. CPR/First Aid Resources can be checked out for one week. It is
the responsibility of the agency checking out the material to pick up and drop
off the resources at the PDRMA offices. Due to limited resources, we
suggest you reserve equipment well in advance of your program.
PDRMA CPR Equipment Includes two full sets, each of which consists of:
- 4 adult manikins
- 4 infant manikins
- 4 AED trainer units

Sound Level Meter
Sound level meters can be used by member Safety Coordinators to determine the
noise levels of mechanical equipment. Sound level testing allows members to
determine if personal protective equipment is needed for specific types of
equipment or is required by State Department of Labor laws. For additional
information on how to use sound level testing equipment, contact your Risk
Management Consultant.

The tools contained in the Playground Safety Audit Kit can be used to audit
your playgrounds to determine compliance with ASTM Standards and CPSC
Guidelines. The kit includes all of the necessary probes, gauges and other
tools needed to conduct a comprehensive playground safety audit. The tool kit
should be used in conjunction with the Playground Safety is No Accident
publication that can be borrowed from PDRMA.
