Risk Management Institute Goes Virtual!
Like so many other events during the pandemic, PDRMA’s Risk Management Institute has gone virtual instead of taking place Nov. 20 at Tinley Park Convention Center. We’ll host four virtual sessions to share the information and updates most relevant to you — at no cost.
The live-streaming sessions are Oct. 29, Nov. 6, Nov. 20 and Dec. 10. Lasting between 75 and 90 minutes, all sessions are without cost to PDRMA members and address challenges facing you right now:
- Oct. 29, 10 — 11:15 a.m. — Using Visual Literacy in Safety as Part of the COVID-19 World is open to all employees and will help them refine their ability to detect — or “see” — risk and take appropriate action.
- Nov. 6, 10 — 11:15 a.m. — Increasing Mental Toughness focuses on how to handle the mental and emotional challenges of living and working during the pandemic. All members can learn how to cultivate a positive outlook despite challenges and discover what resources are available to help them.
- Nov. 20, 10 — 11:15 a.m. — “I’ve been Hacked!” is a 75-minute session for Executive Directors, IT/Business Facility Managers and Safety Coordinators. With so many employees working from home, there’s a target-rich environment for cybercriminals to hack into exposed IT networks and emails. Ransomware, hacking and stealing private information are just some of the dangers to agencies and individual employees. Learn from a PDRMA member’s experience being hacked and discover how to recognize and prevent it from happening at your agency.
- Dec. 6, 10 — 11:30 a.m. — “Focus on Safety” is the keynote address for 2020 introduced by PDRMA CEO Brett Davis. This closing talk, open to all, stresses how to maintain a safety culture even when constrained by circumstances.
Other Information
- You must register for each session individually by clicking here. You’ll receive an email with the link to access the session after completing your registration. (Do not share the session link with anyone, since that person will not be listed as a final attendee and might restrict another member from watching the session.)
- Agencies can decide how to view the sessions. If watching as a group of individually registered attendees, please practice social distancing.
- When practical, PDRMA has negotiated with speakers to allow recording the session and will post some of them to its website.
- The National Parks and Recreation Association officially determines the granting of CEUs. Each virtual session is one-hour long (equivalent to 0.1 CEU). Registered participants who attend a virtual session will receive a certificate of completion in their Training History on the PDRMA website. You can use this certificate to verify your attendance at a session.
