Keep Mental Health Resources Top of Mind in May

Since May is Mental Health Month in the United States, it’s the perfect time to review the resources we have available for you on the PDRMA website. Your mental health is as important as your physical health, so review them below — or click here to watch a video — so you and your dependents can stay well!

Mental Health Coaching

Mental Health Coaching is often an important solution to help address stress, depression and anxiety. PDRMA makes one-on-one help easily available and free of charge through PATH’s Mental Health Coaching.

It’s part of a long list of focus areas where participants can find the help they need. Schedule an appointment with a health coach by going to PATH, Health, Coaching, Schedule an Appointment and then select Anxiety and Depression under Caring for Your Health.

For access to all online options, go to the PDRMA website and look under Wellness, Wellness Benefits, and then Mental Health.

  • You can find self-help activities on PATH with options for webinars, reading materials, health coaching appointments and journeys. You can choose to work with your health coach via phone for confidential calls days, nights or on the weekends to talk about issues with anxiety and/or depression. Journeys offers a library of social/emotional online workshops that address anxiety, depression and stress management topics.
  • Workplace Solutions, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider, is available online and over the phone. Visit the site, choose Employee Services LOG IN and use PDRMA for the access code. You’ll find lots of guided meditations available at no charge online. Our EAP also offers free support from objective and caring professionals. They can help you develop strategies to manage difficult situations related to stress management or provide legal and/or financial support. And they always have English and non-English-speaking counselors available to help you and anyone in your household, regardless of whether that person participates in our medical plan. For more information, call 877-215-6614 or visit the site.

In addition to counseling, EAP also offers:

  • LifeSpeak with online streaming video modules. Use access code: lifespeak.
  • Webinars — live webinars offered monthly by trained experts.
  • Telemedicine is another option if you need to connect with a counselor quickly for one-on-one help. You can access MDLIVE at no additional cost if you participate in the BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois PPO medical plan, and therapists can help you learn how to manage anxiety, depression, stress/PTSD, family/marriage issues and other life challenges better. HMO participants should contact their medical group to determine which mental health telemedicine services they can use.
  • Mindful of Mental Health Webinar Series is also available for PDRMA members. These bimonthly webinars highlight different topics that help you cultivate a positive mental outlook. Search ‘Mindful of Mental Health’ on the PDRMA website for webinar recordings and resources.

No matter what you’re struggling with, it’s important to remember help is available — and to find the best solution for you and/or your family.
