Will 2016 Be Your Agency’s Lucky Year?
Will this be the lucky year for your agency to be a winner of the Risk Management Grant and Recognition program?
The program encourages members to submit their ideas, solutions and ingenious modifications to uncover new ways to manage risk, reduce losses and improve safety — while earning grants of up to $2,500.
“Loss and exposure-based cost drivers are the foundation of successful grant submissions, and that covers a wide area,” points out Tim Lenac, PDRMA Risk Management Consultant. “Sometimes it’s investing in a strategic piece of equipment, like Bloomingdale Park District did by reducing slips, trips and falls with a Cargo Glide. Other times it’s developing a training program, like Frankfort Square Park District’s red/yellow/green risk assessment classification system to rank the risk level associated with its equipment. But it can also be something fun, like the ‘Fix the Pics for your Core 6’ weekly photo challenge at Vernon Hills Park District that asked employees to identify Core 6 activities done correctly. All 13 grant winners in 2015 demonstrated creativity and ingenuity — exactly what we hope to see in this year’s grant submissions, which are due Sept. 9.”
The grant program continues to help members fund, implement and/or recognize innovative and cost-effective safety projects or programs that address loss and exposure-based cost drivers. The Risk Management Committee awards multiple grants in increments of $250 with a minimum award of $500 and a maximum award of $2,500. The annual maximum award amount is $15,000. By rewarding outstanding performers with cash grants and promoting their solutions, the program shares best practices and sparks creativity to solve challenges.
Use LRN #1610 to submit your 2016 grant application and email it to Tim Lenac by Sept. 9.
