Make the LCR Self-review a Self-fulfilling Prophesy

If the Loss Control Review is the foundation of each member’s risk management track record, LRN #1629 — PDRMA Loss Control Review (LCR) Self-review Tool is the blueprint for keeping the foundation in good repair and building a solid structure. The Self-review Tool offers a comprehensive and easy-to-use format; it empowers members in non-LCR years to manage and improve their risk management track record proactively.

“The Self-review Tool is a great resource for members to maintain the momentum in areas where they excel and to refocus on areas that need improvement,” says Tim Lenac, PDRMA Risk Management Consultant. “It’s a one-stop-shopping approach to stay on point with the LCR and related Plans of Action. It prevents things from falling through the cracks in the three years between reviews.”

Designed as a “study guide,” the self-review summarizes all elements of a comprehensive risk management program. It’s packed with solid guidance in a simple format. PDRMA Risk Management Services does not require members to use the self-review, but it’s a convenient way to stay on course to improve and maintain best practices. The self-review is also a great resource to help those who are new to the Safety Coordinator role — or new to your agency — become familiar with the Loss Control Review process.

The tool addresses inspections, administration, certifications, training, equipment checks, finance, inventory, claims, regulatory compliance, human resources, policy manuals, fleet management, maintenance — 16 critical risk management areas – plus separate sections for Special Recreation Associations and field inspections. Each area includes checklists, tips and references to helpful LRN resources.

If your PDRMA Risk Management Consultant will not be conducting a LCR at your agency in 2018, plan to start the New Year with a meeting of your agency’s Safety Coordinator, Safety Committee and other appropriate staff to get a LCR Self-review underway.
