Turn Your Safety Innovation into an Award-winning Success Story!
Has your agency developed or discovered an innovative safety solution, implemented a cost-effective risk reduction initiative or created a training program that enhances workplace safety? If so, you have until Sept. 4 to showcase your achievement — and possibly earn up to $2,500 in cool cash for your creation when you apply to the 2026 PDRMA Risk Management Grant and Recognition Program.
Since 2003, PDRMA has offered its Risk Management Grant and Recognition Program to Property/Casualty members, with cash grants starting at $500 and increasing in $250 increments up to $2,500, determined by PDRMA’s Risk Management Committee. The annual grant budget is $20,000, and agencies may submit up to two proposals per year.
"The best ideas often come from safety committees and supervisors who identify everyday challenges and develop practical solutions," says Cheryl Morley, PDRMA Risk Management Consultant. "If your agency has implemented a program, training initiative or safety improvement that's making a difference, we encourage you to submit it."
Applications can focus on injury prevention, property conservation, fleet safety, employment practices, meeting SMART goals or other initiatives that reduce risk and improve operations. We especially encourage submissions that demonstrate innovation, measurable results and offer strategies other agencies can replicate.
Improve Your Chances
Before preparing a submission, Morley suggests applicants review previous award-winning grants to avoid duplicating them or spot opportunities to build on winning ideas using new approaches or updated methods. She also advises agency safety committees to evaluate grant program ideas against internal safety incentive program guidelines to determine their merit and whether the agency should submit them as a Risk Management Grant and Recognition application.
To help make your application stand out, Morley suggests explaining the safety challenge your agency addressed, describing how employees and supervisors worked together to develop the solution and including any data that demonstrates measurable or expected results, such as reduced losses, cost savings or other operational improvements. Product-purchase submissions should align with PDRMA's Be Safe Solutions program whenever appropriate. (Search “Be Safe Solutions” on PDRMA’s website.)

"The grant program isn't just about recognition or cash for safety improvements, although that’s certainly important,” Morley said.
