As the summer rush of agency programs and events fades, fall can be a great time of year for you to enroll in a refresher course or learn something new. Be sure to check our Training Calendar website page regularly for the latest updates and additions like these courses:

  • HELP for New and Part-time Supervisors: Mentoring Check-in, Nov 9, 2022 (also Dec. 9, 2022). The Mentoring Check-in is the second part of the HELP for New and Part-time Supervisors blended learning course. You must first view the series of videos in the Online Learning Center before registering for the mentoring session. The check-in sessions are Zoom meetings where attendees actively participate in the discussions and ask questions, much like in an in-person setting.
  • Keep Fit, Keep Safe for Maintenance Staff, Nov. 29, 2022. This webinar, meant for maintenance staff and those with maintenance-related job tasks, will show how to minimize the impact of aging and increase or maintain strength and flexibility.
  • OSHA and Safety Program Administration for Agency Leadership, Dec. 13, 2022. Your agency’s management support and leadership influence its safety culture — positively or negatively. Some safety function managers lack formal safety or injury-prevention training. In this in-person class, they’ll learn about state regulatory requirements and safety topics.
  • Ladder Safety, Dec. 14. Maintenance staff can avoid accidents and serious injury by learning how to choose and use ladders safely and effectively in this in-person class.
  • A Supervisor's Role in Managing Risk in Parks and Recreation, Dec. 15, 2022. This in- person class proves that Risk Management is not just the responsibility of a Safety Coordinator or Risk Manager. Everyone from supervisors to executive directors is a stakeholder and needs to understand the trade-off of risk and potential return, and how to establish a risk tolerance appropriate to your overall safety culture. The class consists of discussions and cases studies that explore risk management supervision from ordinances and regulations to signage, contracts and maintenance.
